Currently, the economy is built on and powered almost exclusively by oil, natural gas, and coal, which are not renewable energy sources. As supplies disappear, the price of energy climbs and nearly everything becomes more expensive. As costs go up, and unemployment goes up, the economy suffers.
Additionally, when we burn these fuels, the greenhouse gases they emit, overheats the atmosphere. This impact climate change.
